My favorite place to watch all the football games is on my sofa with a Bombay Sapphire martini in hand, and my beautiful wife Carolyn by my side. My ritual before game time is making sure I have enough gin to carry me through the day. Since I’m not shy about my love of sports, or sports wagering, people often have a lot of questions when the season begins. Here are some of the top questions I receive:
Do you watch and bet on every college and NFL game during the football season?
On Saturdays, I start watching the college games on which I placed a bet and on Sundays I watch all of the games on multiple TV’s.
Where do you place your bets?
I put on a disguise and enter different casinos with sports books placing bets throughout the week.
How do you determine what team to place your bet on?
By the color of the uniform (Therefore, if you ever hear me give an opinion as to which team to bet, bet the team’s opponent.)
Do you have a favorite team that you like to bet on?
I love betting on any team that wins. At the beginning of the season I locked in the colleges: Utah, North Carolina State and Western Kentucky. It’s hard to go wrong with New England in the pros.
Do you have any betting tips that you can offer?
What is your favorite college and NFL Team?
UNLV is going to be very competitive soon. I liked the San Diego Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles until I found out, they both really “stunk”!
It’s hard to tear me away from the TV when football is on but this season, I’ve managed to break out of my routine through my role as Chairman of the LVCVA’s Las Vegas Host Committee.
In a continued effort to support the Host Committee’s mission of promoting the importance of tourism in Southern Nevada and rolling out the red carpet for Las Vegas visitors, I hit the Las Vegas Strip on a Saturday morning with my iconic showgirls. We partnered with multiple resorts, sports books and attractions to welcome sports fans, pose for photos and distribute football-themed giveaways as a “Thank You” to tourists for choosing Las Vegas as their travel destination during football season. We visited six popular Strip sports bars in three hours. It was a fantastic day and the football fans loved it!
The Host Committee is always recruiting new ambassadors to help spread the importance of tourism and support events like our football season kick-off. Anyone from the community can become an ambassador by registering on our website www.lvcva.com/host or emailing our office at firstname.lastname@example.org. It costs nothing other than your commitment to better our community.
I hope you’ll sign up for the Host Committee to stay up-to-date on the latest tourism-related news and the events happening in Southern Nevada. You can also follow the Host Committee on Twitter @VegasHosts.
As always, thank you for supporting our number our #1 industry in Southern Nevada: tourism! Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy this football season! +
