As a recently elected member of Congress, I have made it my number one priority to work across the aisle with my Republican colleagues to get things done for my constituents in Nevada’s 3rd District.
One issue that I am passionate about is protecting Medicare and Social Security for our seniors. Over 50 million people, one in every six U.S. residents, depend on these programs daily and I hear countless stories from my constituents about the difficulty they would have in paying their bills if they were rolled back. Despite the concern I and many others share about some of President Trump’s policy proposals, protecting Social Security and Medicare is one of the areas that the President and I can agree on. Thus far, the President has made good on his promise to protect these benefits after releasing his budget proposal. The proposal thankfully does not include cuts to these critical programs. The proposal thankfully does not include cuts to these critical programs.
While this is encouraging, I will keep close watch on the administration and in Congress to fight those who advocate for the replacement of Medicare with a privatized voucher system that would result in seniors paying more out of pocket for their healthcare.
I recognize that as a member of Congress it is my fundamental responsibility to fight for the benefits you have earned and depend on every day and I will continue to do so as your Representative.
Should you ever need assistance with any of these programs or wish to express support or concern for them, please don’t hesitate to contact my home district in Las Vegas at 702-963-9500 or my Washington DC office at 202-225-3252 .
