The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is tasked with promoting Las Vegas as the world’s most desirable destination for business and leisure travel. In April, our destination will have the opportunity to showcase all of the fabulous things Las Vegas has to offer during what could be the most global of any event- the World Trade Center Association General Assembly.
Did you know the Las Vegas Convention Center is a designated World Trade Center? The World Trade Center Las Vegas is a partnership between the LVCVA and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, producer of the CES®, the world’s leading innovation event. In addition to marketing and branding Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide, the LVCVA operates the Las Vegas Convention Center, the nation’s only convention center designated as a World Trade Center site and one of the largest convention centers in the United States. Together, the LVCVA and CTA market Las Vegas to business travelers around the globe under the World Trade Center brand.
During the World Trade Center General Assembly, nearly 250 business leaders from across the world will gather to discuss the most efficient way to conduct business in the United States. What a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate that Las Vegas is the leading place to get business done! Last year, Southern Nevada welcomed a record-breaking 6.3 million business travelers. All of that traffic helped Las Vegas reach an all-time high for visitation with 42.9 million visitors- and we’re showing no signs of slowing down.
To further celebrate the successes of Las Vegas as a professional place to conduct business, the LVCVA has partnered with resorts across the destination to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day on April 6. To mark the occasion, the LVCVA, community officials and resort partners will host a special event at the the High Roller Observation Wheel from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is welcome to join and learn more about the exciting updates throughout our destination.
The Global Meetings Industry Day event comes at a perfect time as Las Vegas was recently named North America’s No. 1 Trade Show Destination by Trade Show News Network for the 23rd consecutive year. According to the ranking, Las Vegas played host to 57 of the largest 250 trade shows in the region in 2016. That’s more than the next two cities combined!
Beyond business, Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World and our destination always delivers on its brand promise. In recent years, Las Vegas has also evolved to become a culinary mecca. On April 27-30, the destination celebrates the 11th annual Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Apetit’. The event is our destination’s premier culinary and wine event providing guests with one-of-a-kind experiences and a world-class lineup of renowned celebrity chefs, master sommeliers and cutting-edge mixologists from Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, MGM Resorts International, The Palazzo and The Venetian Las Vegas. Many experiences are already sold out but tickets are still available at vegasuncorked.com.
